Whistler/Squamish with Grahame

Grahame huckin Last Tango on the Ashlu WhistlerWithGrahameH

Well this weekend Grahame from Ottawa flew into Vancouver for a weekend! (yes I know...crazy eh!) to go creek boating BC style. And did we ever.

He got in on Friday night and we went to the bar to discuss the plan. It go to Squamish and figure it out from there in the morning.

So we got into Squamish and headed for the Ashlu Mini-Mine section. It is a true BC classic run. So classic the one guy from the States we ran with pinned hard near the top of one of the first rapids. His boat stayed but he came out. It was bad. We topped lined in to try to get the boat but no luck. The rest of the trip went well though. He hiked out. I lost my throw bag in the rescue.

The next day brought on the Upper Cheakamus River. It is another BC classic. A bit bigger volume and a little more exciting. There were a couple harder rapids in there that you didn't really want to mess up. I surfed a hole on top of the first hard one. Not a great start. We both made it down super stoked and had a supper fun time.

Other than that we did some sight seeing and scouted out some other rivers and water falls. Whistler was a super nice town. The weekend was great. Thanks for coming Grahame!

  1. So jealous of all your kayaking. Sure I'm losing most of my skills over here, but the skiing is pretty cool. I'll drop into Blisstick probably in October and maybe see if I can borrow a boat ect + someone to paddle with.
